Some of the many Renewal Fellowship members at General Assembly: standing – Kevin Livingston, Kit Schindell, Ian Shaw, Linda Shaw; seated – Dal Schindell, Fred Stewart
I attended this year's General Assembly as the spouse of a commissioner [who is also the Chair of the Church Doctrine Committee]. That meant I got to mingle and meet old friends and make new ones – something I enjoy doing anytime but especially when it means meeting people who served on the Renewal Fellowship Board with me in the past or who I knew as mission staff.
Many members of the Renewal Fellowship were in attendance and our Executive Director, Fred Stewart, mingled with, and encouraged them. The Renewal Fellowship also sponsored a prayer gathering each morning at 7 a.m. in St. Andrew's Hall. That 45 minutes of prayer was a blessing and encouragement to all who attended and I trust to the whole gathering. There was also prayer throughout the sederunts because a prayer warrior named Sue intentionally sat in the back of the conference room and prayed throughout the four days. Another faithful prayer warrior and member of the Renewal Fellowship, Barb, also came to the event with the sole purpose of upholding the proceedings in prayer. The witness of these two women was powerful and encouraging and demonstrated the Renewal Fellowship's focus on prayer for our denomination.
Please use our prayer post cards which outline our challenge for people who love Jesus and love the Presbyterian Church in Canada to pray for our church at 7:14 a.m. and 7:14 p.m. each day. These post cards are available if you would like to distribute them in your congregation and/or presbytery. Just email Fred Stewart at <firstname.lastname@example.org> or telephone the Renewal Office at 416-233-6581.
You would encourage the Renewal Fellowship Board if you ask for prayer post cards; and if you send us stories about how they were used. Let's share good news!
With hope and joy,
Chair, The Renewal Fellowship Board
